Volunteers from food banks across Bristol and South Gloucestershire share what keeps them going.
Kim at InHope, St Barnabas Church, will tell you so. Kim and Marce both volunteer there, and in our new video you can meet them alongside Alice in Fishponds, Caleb at BS4, Katie in Horfield, Larry in BS3, Sandy in Patchway, Tony in Stokes Croft, John in Redcliffe and Debbie in Mangotsfield. Between them they sort tins, pack parcels and keep food banks going from Avonmouth to Hengrove.
The video brings together volunteers from the three Trussell food banks that serve Bristol and South Gloucestershire: North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank, Bristol North West Foodbank and South and East Bristol Foodbank. We are three separate charities, and we are working more closely together, so that more people are fed without anyone having to work harder, and so that together we have a louder voice for change in our area.
Every year, tens of thousands of people across Bristol and South Gloucestershire come to a food bank because they can't afford to eat. Some are working two jobs. Some have just lost one. Some are parents skipping meals so their kids don't have to. Every week, local people turn up to help, giving their time and their food, and the volunteers in this video are a few of them.
If you'd like to see where you can drop off food, End Hunger Bristol has a map of nearly 100 donation points across the area, for all three food banks, along with more about the change we want to see for the people we serve.
