About our food bank

Our food bank is a project founded by Ebenezer Church and Filton Community Church, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.

It grew further since the launch in August 2012 to have five food bank outlets across North Bristol and South Gloucestershire. In September 2019 Yate and Chipping Sodbury Foodbank merged with North Bristol Foodbank. We adopted their three outlets, improving the food bank coverage over North Bristol and South Gloucestershire. In the following year we then opened a new outlet in Stokes Croft, taking our total number of outlets to nine.

Finally, in 2024 we launched The Bridge Food Project, a food club offering wraparound support to help people transition into independence.



2012

North Bristol Foodbank created in Filton and Horfield by Filton Community Church and Ebenezer Church

2013

We open our third outlet in Southmead in response to high visitor numbers from there

Trussell and Fareshare Southwest start working together under the “5k Partnership”

2014

We open our fourth outlet in Lockleaze

We open our fifth outlet in Patchway

2019

Management vacancies at Yate and Chipping Sodbury Foodbank lead to us adopting their three outlets in Mangotsfield, Thornbury and Yate. We become “North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank”

2020

COVID-19 forces change with need and donations increasing massively. We deliver all parcels and start collaborating more with
other food related charities.

We close our Filton outlet and launch a popup outlet in Redcliffe

2021

We open a new outlet in Stokes Croft

Redcliffe popup becomes a permanent outlet

2024

We launch our Three Year Strategic Plan

We start The Bridge Food Project, a food club in Lockleaze

We coordinate General Election hustings with other Trussell food banks

We break ground on a new allotment at the Warehouse

2025

We start consultations to develop our outlets into Community Connect Spaces

Meet the team

North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank is run by a dedicated team of staff, trustees and volunteers.

You will often see them working in our central food bank office, around the different food bank centres, and behind the scenes keeping everything going. We are so grateful for all their time and commitment.

As part of our Financial Inclusion work with Trussell, we also have members of our team from Citizen’s Advice that partner with our clients.
