Harvest festival resources for schools and churches

Help your school or church feed local households this harvest, with ready-made assemblies, activities and service resources.

Every harvest, pupils and congregations across North Bristol and South Gloucestershire bring in food that our volunteers sort, pack and hand to people facing hardship. The packs below give you everything you need to run your own collection, from a school assembly to a Sunday service.

This year's harvest collection runs from 10th September to 9th October.

When your collection is ready, get in touch at or 0117 472 5172 and we'll arrange for you to drop it off or for us to pick it up.

For primary schools

Harvest is a good moment for children to think about food, where it comes from and how we share it. The schools pack starts with an assembly presentation to launch your collection, then gives you activity sheets for the classroom: a sorting game, a maze, a wordsearch and colouring sheets.

For churches

Bring your harvest collection into the service itself. The churches pack has a presentation for your harvest service, prayer station activities, a thank-you poster for your donation point and an A5 leaflet for anyone who wants to keep supporting the food bank after harvest.

Our “Hi Dave” food bank explainer video

This is a short animation that shows how the food bank works and where your harvest donations go. It fits well at the end of an assembly or service.

The recource packs above include a downloadable version of this video, or you can play it from YouTube here.
