The Ardagh Community Trust is a volunteer-led charity that manages the Ardagh sports and leisure facility at the heart of Horfield Common in North Bristol. The trust provides sports courts, leisure facilities, public gardens, community activities and a community café open daily, transforming a previously neglected 1920s facility into a thriving community hub.
The trust offers numerous volunteering opportunities and runs regular activities including a monthly food and craft market on the second Saturday of each month, a repair café, gardening projects, and various events and performances. Their community plant nursery, open daily, sells plants grown by volunteers with proceeds supporting the site.
The charity works with local partners including Family Food Action, providing fresh vegetables grown on-site to families in need. With over 45,000 households within walking distance, the Ardagh serves a diverse community across multiple Bristol wards. The trust continues fundraising for capital improvements to ensure the site remains accessible and sustainable for future generations.
