This Lent, we’re inviting you to make a meaningful difference with our Ad-Lent Calendar challenge. From 5th of March to 19th of April 2025 (excluding Sundays), you can join supporters across Bristol and South Gloucestershire in donating one item each day to help local families facing hardship. Visit our Lent giving page for full details. As demand for food bank support continues to grow in our community, your participation matters more than ever.
Download your calendar and start your 40-day giving journey.
What is the Ad-Lent Calendar?
Our Ad-Lent Calendar transforms the traditional Lenten period of reflection into a practical opportunity to help others. For each of the 40 days of Lent, simply donate one food item from our calendar, ticking them off as you go. It’s perfect for individuals looking for a meaningful Lent activity, families teaching children about giving, or groups at workplaces, schools and churches wanting to make a collective impact. By Easter, you’ll have gathered a box of essential items that will directly support people in crisis. Download your calendar now:
Last year, North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank provided emergency food parcels to 16,125 individuals, with 38% being children. The ongoing cost-of-living crisis has widened the gap between donations and demand, forcing the food bank to purchase 20% of distributed food. Your Ad-Lent Calendar participation directly addresses this growing need in our community. By donating one item each day during Lent, you’ll help ensure families don’t go hungry while also supporting our broader work with Citizens Advice to tackle the root causes of food poverty. Together, we can make a meaningful difference to local people facing hardship.
How to Get Involved
Getting involved with our Ad-Lent Calendar is simple. First, download and print your calendar from our website. Each day features a specific item we urgently need. As you shop, collect these items one by one, ticking them off your calendar. By Easter, you’ll have a complete donation box ready to drop off at any of our collection points across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Please deliver your donations by 17 April 2025 to ensure timely distribution.
Can’t collect physical items? You can support us through Bankuet instead – they’ll deliver exactly what we need most, maximising every pound donated.
The Ad-Lent Calendar works brilliantly as a group activity. Schools can create classroom collections, churches can gather donations during services, and workplaces can set up collection points in break rooms. For larger group collections, please contact us in advance so we can arrange convenient drop-off times and provide any resources you might need.
Thank you so much!
