Students: try a one-off taster session for Student Volunteering Week (9th to 15th February 2026)
Got a couple of hours between lectures? Your time and practical skills can help move essential food and household items where they’re needed, without a big weekly commitment.
Student Volunteering Week runs from 9th to 15th February 2026 and is led by the Student Volunteering Network. The week often spotlights easy ways to get involved, including short “micro” opportunities, and themes like sustainability.
Whether you study at the University of Bristol, UWE Bristol, City of Bristol College, or somewhere else locally, you’re welcome to get involved.
Pick a volunteering session
Let us know which role you’re interested in and when you’re available, and we’ll help you book onto a volunteering session that fits around your week:
- Warehouse sorting/packing stock: sort donations, date-check, and pack stock ready for distribution.
- Delivery driver’s mate: support the driver to collect donations and move stock between shops, our warehouse and our outlets. You’ll need to lift 16kg crates.
- Helping out at our allotment: seasonal tasks like weeding, watering, harvesting, and general upkeep.
- Visiting our warehouse to create social media posts (content day): take photos and short clips, draft simple posts, and help show what volunteering looks like.
What to expect
You’ll be joining us for a one-off volunteering session during Student Volunteering Week. If it works for you, there’s the option to volunteer regularly afterwards in a role that suits your schedule. You must be 18+ to volunteer. We’ll give you a light induction when you arrive, then you’ll volunteer alongside someone experienced so you feel confident.
If you have access needs, health considerations, or you’re not sure which role will work for you, tell us when you get in touch. We’ll do our best to make it welcoming and practical.
