We believe that no one in North Bristol & South Gloucestershire should face hunger.
At North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank, we combine three days’ emergency food with expert income support advice via Citizen’s Advice.
Last year, we helped 16,900 people and distributed 163,000kg of food. But we need your church’s partnership to tackle poverty’s root causes.
How your church can help
Your congregation can make a lasting difference to people in your community facing hardship. We’ll support you with resources, guidance and practical help to maximise your impact.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Organise a fundraising event: From sponsored challenges to community meals, your congregation’s generosity helps fund vital services.
When donating by BACS, please email us to let us know you’ve given
- Run a food collection: Set up collection points at your church for essential items. We’ll provide shopping lists of most-needed items, promotional materials and arrange collection.
- Host a food bank outlet: Several of our nine outlets operate from church buildings. If your church has suitable space, you can become a distribution centre where people receive emergency food and support.
- Volunteer your time: From warehouse sorting to welcoming people at outlets, there are roles to suit every skill and availability. Many of our 320+ volunteers serve through their local churches.
- Highlight our work: Share our stories and campaigns with your congregation and through your channels. Help us raise awareness about local poverty and how communities can respond.
- Share your skills, services or resources: Support our operations with professional expertise, venue space, storage facilities or printing services. Your in-kind contributions help us direct more funds to frontline support.
One of our team would be happy to speak at your church about our work and impact. We can provide posters, leaflets and other materials to help promote your involvement. Just submit an enquiry using the form on this page, and you’ll be redirected to our latest resources.
What we’ll do for you
We celebrate partners through social media spotlights and impact reports in our monthly newsletter. You’ll see first-hand how your church contributes to your local community.
Food bank volunteering offers your congregation structured opportunities to develop new skills while making a tangible difference in their local community. It creates meaningful connections between church members and builds a sense of shared purpose.
Our church roots
North Bristol and South Glos Foodbank began in 2012 as a partnership between Ebenezer Church and Filton Community Church. Since then, churches across our region have been essential to our work, providing venues, volunteers, donations and leadership. Many of our outlets still operate from church buildings, creating welcoming spaces where people can access help.
Churches remain at the heart of what we do. Around 45% of the food we distribute comes through church donations and collections. Your continued support means we can be here when local people need us most.
