Read Easy is a nationwide charity that helps adults learn to read, offering free, confidential one-to-one coaching from trained volunteers. If you struggle to read, or find reading difficult due to dyslexia or lack of confidence, a personal coach will work with you at your pace, meeting in quiet local venues like libraries or community centres.
Coaching happens twice a week for half an hour, using the phonics-based Turning Pages manuals written for adults. You’ll start with the basics and gradually move on to real stories and books, building up your skills as you go. Read Easy supports anyone over 18, regardless of background, and the service is completely private—no one needs to know you’re having coaching except your coach.
You can find your nearest group, refer a friend, or ask questions by contacting your local Read Easy coordinator online or by phone. The charity’s aim is to give every adult the chance to read with confidence and independence.
