Great Western Credit Union (GWCU) is a member-owned, not-for-profit credit union offering ethical savings and loans. It serves people who live or work across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and the wider South West, including Bath, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.
GWCU provides a safe place to save, including options designed to help people plan ahead in small, manageable amounts. It also offers loans as a fair alternative to high-cost credit.
Through its partnership with North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank, GWCU highlights support for people facing financial pressure, including family loans of £500–£1,000 at a fixed 42.6% interest rate for people who receive Child Benefit.
GWCU is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority, and eligible savings are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
