Community Learning Bristol

Community Learning Bristol is part of Bristol City Council’s Employment, Skills and Learning service. They provide free courses and activities to help adults build skills and gain confidence, particularly if you have few or no qualifications or are looking to get a job.

The service runs over 400 courses each year across 150 different venues throughout Bristol. These include ESOL conversation clubs in locations like Easton, Bedminster, Hartcliffe and Central Library, plus courses in functional skills like English and maths, IT skills, first aid, manual handling, childcare, and cooking. Most courses are designed for adults aged 19 or over who are unemployed or face barriers to learning and work.

Many courses lead to recognised qualifications, whilst others help you prepare for employment or develop practical life skills. Free childcare is available at some locations like Hartcliffe. The service works closely with children’s centres, schools and community organisations to reach people who need support most.
