Food Justice Fortnight 2025

27th May 2025

Food Justice Fortnight 2025 returns to Bristol this June with a powerful new theme: “Food and Power.” Running from 2nd to 15th June, this year’s fortnight celebrates how communities can harness collective power to challenge food injustice across our city. North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank is proud to be part of this incredible movement, co-hosting one of the fortnight’s most compelling events – “Stirring The Pot” on 5th June at Boiling Wells Amphitheatre.

This isn’t just another series of community events; it’s a call to action that recognises food as more than sustenance. Food has the power to nourish minds and bodies, break down barriers, and build bridges between communities. But who carries and shares this power? We do – together, and only together, can we embrace food’s potential to challenge injustice and create lasting change in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Whether you’re passionate about food security, interested in hearing real stories from food bank campaigners, or simply want to connect with like-minded people over a shared meal, Food Justice Fortnight 2025 offers something transformative for everyone in our community.

What is Food Justice Fortnight 2025?

Why Food Justice Matters in Bristol

Food poverty affects thousands across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, with North Bristol & South Glos Foodbank providing emergency food parcels to over 16,000 people last year alone. With 38% of those served being children, this highlights how families are struggling to afford essentials due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Food justice isn’t just about emergency relief: it’s about addressing the root causes that force people to choose between heating and eating. By building community resilience and advocating for systemic change, we’re working towards a future where no one in our area needs a food bank to survive.

How to Get Involved

Food Justice Fortnight 2025 offers numerous ways to join Bristol’s movement for food justice. You can attend community events, participate in panel discussions, volunteer at local food initiatives, or simply share meals with neighbours facing hardship. Many events are free and welcome everyone who wants to make a difference.

For the complete programme and booking information, visit the Feeding Bristol website where you’ll find registration details for all fortnight activities.
